History
A new journey started for Glenn McLaughlin when he showed up at the 2004 muster for the first year of football for his son Cullan to find they had no coach. Having played league for many years at the Otahuhu Rovers Rugby League Club it was an easy task to step forward to put his hand up and here he is still here today, and still loving every minute of it!
The following year Glenn asked his brother Kyle McLaughlin to join him and manage the 2005 side. Kyle became an integral part of the team as Team Manager and takes his roll very seriously. Through Kyle’s contacts he provided our long standing sponsor “Ezybuy Car Auctions”. Allan and Doug came on board and shared a passion for our team of young players. In 2005 and 2006 years this crew coached/ managed and supported two sides, the Leopards and the Rovers.
In 2007 Glenn and Kyle decided to concentrate their coaching and managing skills for just one team and so amalgamated the available players into the 2007 Leopards. With four of the original boys from the first side of 2004 and a further 10 boys from 2005/06 years the 2008 team has a unique depth of comradery and a bond of friendship and sportmanship.
We look forward to another successful year which will bring with it a busy year of training, games, tournaments and of course our fundraising efforts.
A WORD FROM THE COACH
“I would just like to take this time to thank all our parents who have supported their boys and the team in their endeavours to play to their full potential. It is a big year ahead of us as we are trying to raise funds to take our team to Australia next season and take on the Aussies.
Once again a big thanks to everyone who has crossed our paths and helped our side, bring on the season ahead!”
